Hi all

This is a follow up to something that ended in a brick wall some months ago

I have been looking for the parents of NSW police Inspector Charles WH
THORPE abt 1830-1900 died in Sydney - I have his death cert which says born
Hobart, mother Martha.

Now we have found a Charles Thorpe marrying Martha Dudley in Hobart 1832,
who may be the parents. I would like to discover more of this couple.

I have written to Tas archives but they may take a month or so to reply.

I believe this Charles Thorpe may be a convict as I see one getting ticket
of leave in 1832, He was born about 1795-1798 London

There is somewhere a convict Charles WH Thorpe and I wonder if it is the
same man.

I see in Trove that Charles and Martha are possibly the publicans mentioned
at some stage in Hobart. I am Fairley sure that Charles and Martha are the
right couple, but the convict connection may not be correct.

I really need to find their family and my first task is to find a death for
Charles and Martha so I can send for the certificates, (want to know about
any issue) but at this stage, cannot see a death for either of them.

I would really like help to track down the deaths of Charles b 1797 approx
and Martha, birth date unknown but perhaps a bit later..

grateful for any help.

kind regards

Hi Marg. I still have a file on this one. Haven't looked at it for a
while.

While hunting around, I found a new (to me) site, "Convict Records of
Australia":http://www.convictrecords.com.au/

The origin is explained at

Doug.
Found Susannah Waters ' death reg in 1910. She is listed as

"THORPE: Susanna or Waters"

Sounds as though she and Charles weren't married. Her age is given
as 80, which would put her birth in 1830, but I can't find it.
