KING family of Wainui NZ 1800s

Hi all.


would love some NZ help please

Joseph Samuel King married to Sarah Jane Hawkes abt 1890

they had five sons, one of whom died in WW1 (Herbert James (Bertie) KING

I am trying to track what became of Bertie's brothers

George Edward 1890
Samuel Henry 1896 m Jean McLean Hamilton
Wiliam Lester 1900 m Elsie Ellen?
Hector (Joseph Hector) 1906 m Lilian Joyce AUSTIN


Did they all marry? Did they have any issue?

And why does the NZ BMD only let you search mother's name and not father's
name, as they give both, or am I doing it wrong?


They seem to have owned a company called J S KING and sons and lived in
Kings Valley, Wainui, Kaukapakapa , (KKK)

I believe this company might still exist and wonder if it is possible to
track it down in the hope of finding some King family members.

J S King & Sons Auckland are still on all the business listing links. The
individuals are probably better handled by a local.

Hi Marg

I found at least three Trees on Rootsweb but the only issue recorded was
that of a sister. I found a couple of NZ cemetery records for two of
Bertie's brothers and the headstone record for Joseph Hector KING lists the
4 children: one daughter and 3 sons (1 dec'd) - will send offlist. William
Lester KING also had children but his headstone did not list the children.

You can search the NZ whitepages www.whitepages.co.nz for the children.
