There are two marriage records for the above on the same date, one with
Amelia Meurant in Berrima, one with Rebecca West in Sydney. Rebecca
died the same year in Berrima.

Am I seeing double, or just getting old?

Just a slight confusion with the dates? So many mistakes on documents.
The NSW BDM's have a record of the following marriages.

Alfred G J NEALE/Emily WEST, 1853
Alfred G J NEALE/Amelia A MEURANT, 1854

Thanks Kate. The first wife seems to have died in 1854, and the husband
remarried the same year.
