the informers memory and as a result are very often incorrect. your

I don't have Julia's post, so I can'ty see your reply in context.
Just a
note to say that you are correct in general terms, but the shipping
records too can include things they have been told. Evaluate each
fact separately.

We are often led to believe that a Registrar's certificate is
conclusive
evidence in a court. In Victoria at least, that is not true. The
certificate
is only evidence, and can be contradicted by other evidence. For the
date of the event, it is unlikely to be wrong.
