Just found a thread started by Paul Blair asking about this name. In
that thread Liz Vincent wrote:

I seem to have that family in my tree, but the details are significantly
different.

Hurtle Fisher Allen, born at Willunga SA on 09 May 1859 was the son of
John Allen, born Oct 133 at Roche, Cornwall married Jane REED at
Willunga on 12 Jan 1857.

Hurtle married Linda Antonia SIVA in 1899 at Collie, W.A.

The issue I have is their son James, born in 1900 at Bunbury, and an
"unnamed male" born and died in 1905. In James's birth registration,
Linda is

Antonia Libda SIBA. (could be a transcription error.)

I wondered how I am related to them, but Ancestry says he is very remote.

Hurtle had a sister Evelyn Allen, who married George James WARE in S.A.
The Ware family is related by marriage to my Boykett ancestors.

Is this my family?

Doug.

Paul's original thread was full of anecdotes about occurrences of the
name Hurtle. Here is mine.

Richard Scarry started by writing for Little Golden Books, then went out
on his own. We have a large book of his with an animal character named
Hurtle. I have seen the same Hurtle in Scarry's online cartoons. It
was my first acquaintance with the name.
